Dead end in Norvelt by Jack Gantos

Noleen, a slightly eccentric girl, has been sent to stay at the New Newbridge Academy for the summer where her dad teaches and where she will start sixth-grade in the fall. Right away she is drawn to an old, burned dormitory and is startled to find children there who are not supposed to be there. Soon Noleen discovers that she has talent, the talent for seeing ghosts. Now that the ghost children have started disappearing, it is up to Noleen, the only person at the Newbridge Academy that can see the children, to save them.
