As the Pig Turns by M C Beaton

I feel somehow lost or in limbo whenever I must wait for the next Agatha Raisin novel to be published.  Imagine-no new Agatha Raisin to read! Yikes!! Well, the newest book, As the Pig Turns (released in Oct. 2011), was well worth the wait in Limbo Land.  Here, agatha is up as much silly nonsense as ever. And, of course, there's death and destruction--an unusual amount of destruction, but it is oh so very funny.  The really disgusting way the murderer(s) handles the dead body of the crooked, mean-spirited copper is at once shocking, original, and satisfying.
